About

Overview Of The Church

Edith Ming Church Originated at old location before Mahwelereng location was “born.”This shortened history has sketched from as far back as 1945.  The following members of the church are worth mentioning because they kept the candle burning at old location under indescribable conditions, Mothers Senosha Sarah, Chauke, Molala Onicca, Kgaripana Emmy and father Molala Moshitoana Daniel. This church could not also escape the forced removal action of the then government. It had to be relocated from old location to Mahwelereng Location under the leadership of Rev EMJ Mothabeng.  The Segoa Kgala Primary school became their place of worship.  The need to find an appropriate place to worship could no longer be contained. The members then responded to the need and that was the beginning of building Edith Ming Church. This beginning began still under the leadership of Rev.Mothabeng. God is always great. The building was eventually completed and dedicated by Bishop D.G Ming under the Presiding Elder Rev MH Mamabolo and Pastor Rev. Mothabeng on the 29 Sep 1979.

Highlights

The church in Mahwelereng contributed to the community in the following instances:

  • Was home to the MAHWELERENG CENTRE OF HOPE, a centre for the Mentally Challenged children which was established during the leadership of Rev Lekubela S Moobi. The founder member of this NGO was Mrs Sheila Ledwaba and was assisted by Sister Paulina Lebelo, a member of the YPD who was the cook.
  • The church used to have a crèche and day care services under the pastorship of
    Rev Sepeke A Moloelang.
  • The church used to have a vegetable garden during the time of Rev MDT Makhene. Vegetables were sold to the community as a means of fundraising.
